Aviro Health

Overview

Aviro Health is a Cape Town based digital health company with employees in a few countries across the world. I started working with them in 2021 and it’s my first experience working with a startup. The volume and pace suits me well, as the corporate environment has always been a bit too slow for my liking.

The healthcare industry has also always been interesting to me, even though I have very little medical knowledge. Aviro’s main product, Pocket Clinic, has given me the opportunity to learn a lot about HIV and Diabetes.

How I work with the team

• One-person UX Team for half the work week
• I’m embedded in the tech team, working alongside the Product Manager, Product Owner, Content Team, SMEs and Developers
• Conduct design workshops with the team
• Attend and participate in Agile events
• Present screens for review
• Maintain a Design Library to support Developers as they create new pages

On joining Aviro, I spent the first 2 months formalising UX processes and conducting Usability Tests. This was a perfect opportunity to learn about the product and users.
